So i keep looking around and this one looks so nice and it looked like a normal flat screen tv bought 2 of them one for me and one for my mother both picked up over 30 channels on the scan. It looks amazing the quality is just as i expected. As for the comments on here of not getting any channels I guess it really depends where you live because I got all of them including HD channels in my area. I was disappointed - I couldn’t receive any stations with the small antenna. I bought it for my boat and have a Shakespear analog/digital antenna - I was delighted, I got 20 clear stations. I live 55 miles from Boston and 45 miles from Providence. Wonderful by the price, but you need to be close to stations or have a good antenna.

Well…our local TV station posted several links of various portable bat op TVs we could possibly buy to have here in strong storm and hurricane land. Now I can tell you I already miss my battery op. anolog 8 D batteries, little NOW VINTAGE TV-batteries die, just put in more! I dont have a converter box, I live rather rural, tho Im near a major city (TAMPA) they still wont bring cable/dsl/fios to us rural folk out here in Plant City-there is some, but its mostly around the city and for people who live close to the road. So were stuck with satilitte TV-which isnt bad, but there is LOTS of RAIN n CLOUD fade and when it goes out it can stay out for 30 min-to 2 hours-not good during severe weather. So even tho I have a generator that will run my TV n sat box…I would still have no picture during bad storms. ANd I have a weather radio…but I like seeing radar and that’s a big drain on your laptop when your stuck with a 5GB wifi card becasue there is no high speed out here and dial up wont allow you to load radar intensive pages. I needed an alternative. I was skeptical ordering one of these considering where I live, I figured Id be one of those people who would be lucky to get one station. Im in the middle of a cow pasture. I tried to look up my location on AtennaWeb, no luck. So I took a chance. Well it arrived, after reading the other review (Fantastic) I quickly realized I could figure this out without even looking at the directions. I screwed in the antenna it came with and it wouldnt stay tight…unless you propped it up against a wall. Not good. Couldnt get ANY channels. Figured right, considering I live in no where ville in the middle of a cow pasture I expected this. Started to pout. Went and got the REAL rabbit ears, screwed them in…walked outside next to a cow and rescanned. Got 1 channel. Rescanned 2 more times. Now Im happy to report I have 26 PLUS channels-channels I didnt even know where out there! ALl work in the house now too, tho I do have to adjust the rabbit ears on certain channels. I get 2 out of the 3 major networks! YAY! and the one I dont get I dont really want. The picture is VERY CLEAR and pretty-makes my big TV look sick! It comes with a nifty little remote WITH BATTERIES (thats nice of them) and a car charger too!-and cords so you can hook right to your cable or sat. box.-No power? Plug it in to your cig liter.! The only bad things I can say are the antenna it comes with-CHUCK IT-its worthless. When you change channels sometimes you have to give them a minute to come in-its not INSTANT like analog. If they dont come in all u have to do is move the antenna. Now the inst. book. A.) Dont even bother reading it. B.) If you do be prepared for one of those BADLY translated Chinese to English deals-its rather comical but not very helpful. If it wasnt for the antenna, not being able to purchase a seperate back up battery and the poorly written inst. manual, I’d give it 5 stars. Minus those I can only muster a 4, but Im very happy with it, esp. considering my remote and rural location and now I dont think I ll be getting a converter box.

I bought one of these for $99.00 on sale at my local Target store. I really liked the TV, but tried several times to scan for my local stations (Cincinnati) and could only get 4 channels. That would have been fine, but there was so much “snow” you couldn’t make out a picture! I kept it long enough to try it after the digital switch. Rescaned again and it was worse then because if it won’t pull in the channel you get a blue screen which is all I got! I could have added a better anntenna, but that defeats the purpose of a portable TV. I had to return it. Let me know if there is a good small TV out there, I’m still looking.

Brought this through the analog to digital conversion, and aside from rescanning a few times, it works great. As other reviews indicated, the enclosed antenna is inadequate for a few reasons, but since I had a couple of extra antennae from the purchase of my large TV, I tried them both. Oddly enough, in my market (NYC), the unpowered antenna works better.
For me the best thing is that it runs on 18 watts, versus the 100 watts the big TV runs on.
Nice size, nice picture, good audio volume. Let’s hope it lasts….

Eviant T7 7-Inch Portable LCD TV, Black
Like many others who have a TV in their kitchen, the DTV switch promised to leave me TV-less, but this was a perfect solution. I tried the converter box ’solution’, but the combo of the old 5″, with rabbit ears and the converter took up too much space. This TV is perfect. I’m curious when their 4.3″ version will arrive.
When I first set it up, it defaulted to auto-scan on startup, which came up with no signals. I bypassed it and went into the menu. The manual scan pulled in 19 channels, which is more than I had with my old TV! I had to fiddle with the antenna to get it to work on most of them, but it’s not near a window, so I’d expect that. This DTV transition has been a traumatic experience for my 88-year-old mother, so I’ll probably pick one up for her to replace the little TV in her kitchen.
The sound is what I’d expect from a little TV, so I’m giving this a two-thumbs-up.
If it only had a hanger on the back so I could put it on the wall…

You would think with digital TV mandatory, someone would make a battery operated digital TV that’s worth something. I tried a 7″ Dynex, I returned in within a month as it stopped working. So now I tried the Eviant 7″ and it didn’t come with the car charger as shown in the online purchase site. Plugged it in while in my office (I live in Miami - we have strong signals here) it scanned and only picked up 2 Spanish Stations and none of the other local channels. So when I got it home I tried again on my patio think I may get better reception there. Well the dinky 6 button remote does not give me the option to scan again. So I am returning it. I live in Hurricane Alley and need an emergency TV, I can’t use my old analog now, so I guess I’m stuck with a radio!!! Someone please make a decent battery operated digital TV…signed, Andrew survivor in Miami.

I just purchased this TV on sale at Penney’s because I needed to replace my little one for the kitchen due to the digital change. This TV has a crystal clear picture and I do not have a problem with the sound at all. It picks up all available local channels plus a bunch I never heard of, even on cable. I get around 15 or so, plus one radio channel. I’m only using the telescoping antenna, but it does come with an additional one if needed. It was very easy to set up and I’m extremely happy with it!

Do not buy this product. It does not pick up any signal. TV is set to the proper air configuration. This is not a good product.

I was so excited about receiving this TV and in red! However, after setting it up, I noticed that there was no car adapter as described under product description above. All the other companies selling this unit and even one of Eviant’s own press releases state a car adapter is included. However, the included manual does not list the adapter in the list of included items. So I called Eviant, was sent to voice mail that said to call Nexstar’s tech support at an 888#. Nexstar tech support told me they don’t support Eviant products and would not be able to help me. I tried Eviant again, trying a different extension, and was very curtly told (maybe getting a lot of complaints?) there is NO car adapter for this model - T7. When I explained their own press release said there was, she said they might offer one later in the year. So I thought I would just buy the adapter - less hassle than ordering a different unit. However, Radio Shack said the DC plug was an odd size and none of their dozens and dozens of adapters fit this TV. So I will return this unit and order the Axion (AXN-8701), a very highly rated unit.

I compared the picture quality of the Toshiba 19AV600U side by side with Samsung (at our local Best Buy) after tweaking both to their maximum quality and the Toshiba had truer colors with accurate flesh tones, probably due to the 10 bit color. The sound was also much better (and louder) than other TV’s of the same size. If you can live without the headphone jack, then this will be a great choice, especially for a small bedroom or kitchen.
One more thing that impressed me and my daughter was how the TV cleaned up the standard analog cable channels, apparently due to the noise reduction feature, which we put on high. Some of the channels even look as good as digital or HD. The 19AV600U also has (2) HDMI jacks and is a great looking little TV even when it’s off. We mostly buy SONY but was settling for Samsung (since Sony is not that impressive in this size range) until I ran across this little jewel.

Didnt see that coming after reading the specifications or site content. The picture looks great enough for HDMI PS3 signals.
For Ps2 component signals, i am not impressed with the quality, but maybe if i tweak the settings i might get a good feed.
I also use it as my Laptop monitor.
I gave it only four stars because it doesnt have a Audio/earphone out TRS female jack to connect my PC speaker system to it. They should have included it since its supposed to work as a monitor as well. Every other monitor TV has one. This has a L/R RCA audio out which i have to adapt using atleast 3 extra pieces of adapters. :[

I purchased this TV after much comparison shopping and reading of reviews of various models on Amazon and other web sites. I settled on this model and am very pleased. I use the TV in our kitchen and it has an excellent picture (given the price) and I have not encountered any issues with sound volume. The sound could be criticized as being a little “tinny”, but, that said, I would not count this as a material criticism. Frankly, you might consider getting the 22″ model if it fits both your budget and the space that you have. In conclusion, you should not hesitate to purchase this TV. Note, however, that I found the TV at a slightly cheaper price at Fry’s (in-store price not on-line price).

Great little TV. Questions about set-up were answered rapidly by customer service and very understandable.

First let me say that I own several Toshiba products so I didn’t think twice about Toshiba quality before purchasing this set. What a mistake. The set comes shipped with its base turned 90 degrees so it will fit in a smaller box. I was unable to get the stand turned back to its normal position. I couldn’t even remove the base if I wanted to mount it on a wall. No instructions in the manual. No inserts in the box. Nothing on the web site. I’m a fairly resourceful and tenacious person, but I finally gave up. I assume it was defective but I’ll never know.
Very disappointing experience.

I wanted to replace my old portable TV with a digital one. I tried out one from Best Buy about a year ago and ended up returning it a few days later. I took a chance on this TV and was surprised to find also had a USB and SD slot capable of playing MP3s, Photos and Movies including Divx and Xvid. TV wise it picked up everything in my area and even has an electronic program guide. Picture is nice for SD stations, HD stations are ok considering this is not an HDTV. Sound is pretty good for the included speakers. Not much bass but you can’t really expect tiny speakers to boom. You can plug in headphones if you want better sound. The buttons on the unit are simple and easy to use. There is also a remote you can use if you want to control the TV at a distance. As a TV it does a good job. As a media player I was surprised how versatile it was. It played everything I threw at it and the video looked great. I’m very happy with this purchase.
Pros: Good picture and sound. Plays DTV and other Media. Unit allows for software upgrades so the company can constantly improve the functionality. Antenna cord is fairly long and has a magnetic mount. When there is nothing on TV you can always watch other media via USB or SD card.
Now here are the cons. Battery life is only about 1½ hours and there is no way to tell how much charge is on the battery. The USB port is a mini port that requires an adapter (included) to plug a USB stick into the unit. While the unit does come with a kick stand there is no way to mount it to a tripod or base. The unit only comes with an AC adapter so if you want to charge it in your car you need to buy a DC adapter.
Overall it’s a good little TV/Media Player for around $100

I bought this at Fry’s, a chain of gadget superstores.
My previous kitchen/bathtub/camping/portable/convenience tv was one of those little casio LC 2.5-inch TVs that I really got along with and was quite sturdy. But now it’s only digital, so….
My expectations were an optimistic neutral, and not just because I’ve never heard of the brand Viore.
I continue to be pleased.
I assume I have to be careful with this because it seems a bit more delicate than the previous casio, but perhaps I’m being paranoid and protective, and a bit pessimistic? Maybe not so much delicate but maybe less forgiving? The casing seems sound if a bit heavy and a bit plasticy. Probably not a bad thing at all, though looks a bit toy-ish next to a slick big LCD tv.
The included antenna reception is very finicky, but I sort-of knew to expect that. Volume’s not so much, but a bit more than my understandably low expectation. Remote is also a bit finicky which I wasn’t expecting. I’m sure there’s a trick to how/where/when to aim at what, and I’ve not quite gotten that right.
It seems to properly detect and display format for digital SD vs digital HD and it has the expected aspect button settings. The picture quality seems perfectly decent, perhaps better. I’ve really only watched reruns and evening sitcoms. And I only have roof-top antenna (when I choose to connect it that way), so I’m not able to judge it for National Geographic or NFL channel quality programming or whatever. And like all digital TV now, if it gets the signal, it’s clear. (Warning: be a bit patient with the finicky nature of portale/telescoping antennas, as always.)
I converted a dvd (one episode of hitchcock TV reruns on DVD) to avi (mp4, too), put it on an SD card, played fine. Finicky about the avi/mp4 format, but that’s quite common gadgets of all types. Haven’t tested the USB.
It even has the program guide that lists the last several and next several shows of the same channel, not just the “currently watching” sort-of fake program guide.
The battery life seems fair, at maybe 90 minutes? I’ve not actually timed it. I was hoping for like 8 hours. Who was I kidding?
Another warning: the manual is a wreck, what there is of it. And I don’t see this product on the viore website. Surprising but not freakout-worthy.
If it breaks after maybe 1 year I’ll probably still think it was a good buy at $99 plus tax. More toy than tool, but that’s how I’ve treated my portable tvs for years.

Viore PLC7V95 7-Inch Portable LCD TV with Built-in Tuner Purchased this unit to use around the house and for emergency situations. The screen is very clear and the picture is pretty impressive for a 7″ TV. You can also watch movies from an SD card or USB drive which makes this unit very functional. I was able to find about 12 channels with the external antenna and I was very surprised at how well this piece worked. It isn’t going to replace a much larger TV but if you want something that is portable to watch while you are cooking, grilling, etc. this is a great unit. I have two labs and I can be outside with them while they play and still watch TV. The price is also better than the other units on amazon. I was so impressed that I’m going to purchase one for my dad for father’s day. Thanks amazon!

It worked pretty good indoors, but then when I took it with me in the car, where it will be used most, it hardly worked with either antenna. I returned it in search of another.

The TV works fine without the external antenna where I live. It does need to be positioned correctly, and any movement disrupts the signal so you may need to reposition it at times or sit in the same spot (the external antenna may help). I’m still waiting for the total removal of analog to see if the tuner works without the need to step it to a woking digital station.
