Basic features yet Toshiba quality and remote on this HDTV with a built in side DVD player. I found the sound to be fine; there is output for headphones or digital audio out if you want more. Stable base and simple to set up. Solid product.

The Toshiba LCD TV/DVD set had great possibilities for our RV. The picture was great…then its downfall…In turning the volume up to its highest setting “50″ it was still hard to hear even when sitting two feet from the screen. We tried a couple of DVD’s with no luck. Same low volume on an otherwise stunning pictured LCD TV set…Returning it tomorrow with Amazon’s foolproof buyers satisfaction guarantee…If you want to hook it up to a sound system you might be very satisfied with it…we just don’t
have room in our RV for that type of hookup…

We just got the TV last week and have not used it too much yet, but so far it seems like a good little TV. The volume seems o.k. when it is on the TV setting (20 to 25 is o.k.), but when we put a DVD in we had to turn it up all the way to 50 for the volume. We are going to use it for our exercise room right in front of the elliptical machine, so I don’t think it will be a problem. The picture is great and it is easy to set up and to operate the DVD.

Out of the box the picture is not sharp at all. Better with HD channels, but still not as clear as expected. After looking through the manual and troubleshooting, still can’t find a decent solution. Don’t know if this a defective tv or just the way it’s supposed to look. Toshiba customer support not available, so will try to contact them tomorrow.

The picture is pretty good, the sound not so good get some speakers it will sound better, really good picture with video games my Xbox 360 looks really good when used with the game mode setting. Like i said good for the price i’m happy with it.

The most brilliant, correct accurate TV ever. In 60 years of watching TV
nothing comes close to Toshiba Lcd. BUT, I’ve heard that led’s are the furure. As an 78 year old Scotch man I expect you will give us even better.

According to the stats on this page, this 1080p LCD has a resolution of 1366 x 768. Since, by definition, 1080p would require a vertical resolution of 1080 lines, this is obviously NOT a 1080p LCD.
Buyer Beware!

I’ve had this TV for three weeks and I’m happy with the quality. I had a relatively small living room so I needed a smaller TV and this model works perfectly. It displays all the HD channels well. Compared to a $3000 Sony I can tell a slight difference but it’s marginal. At $700 level you can’t really complain.
As other reviews have pointed out the sound isn’t impressive, but it works for my small room. If you’re looking for something louder you’ll have to hook it up to a system.
Overall I’m really happy with the TV.

This is a very nice small HDTV. It is the 22″ version of Toshiba’s latest (2009) revamp of their 19, 22 and 26″ LCD HDTV DVD combo line up. I bought it to fit in our boat during the summer months and take home for a bedroom in the winter. It needed to be surface mounted in the boat and on its stand in the winter. I highly recommend this TV as the best in class for this size and DVD combo configuration. A couple factors cause me to nudge my rating back from 5-stars: The complications encountered in getting a truly flush mount, and I prefer the image fidelity of a plasma display over the harsh contrasty rendition of any LCD.
Some observations both pro and con for those interested in this TV:
Appearance: An attractive gloss black frame with minimal frame width around the display surface.
Remote: well designed with a familiar layout and comfortable ergonomics.
Power: Very low power consumption 61W. This means less heat and an ability to run the TV from a small 120 Watt inverter from the boat’s DC battery bank.
Aspect ratio: a true 16:9 aspect ratio - correct for HDTV that has finally begun to predominate.
Sound: I found the sound quality and volume perfectly adequate for the size of the TV. It will not compete with my 50″ Panasonic plasma, but its speaker size shouldn’t be expected to for 1/7 the price and <1/4 the size.
Tuner: Channel changing is as quick as most tuners
Set-Up: very good “auto tune” set-up station finding
DVD - has scene marking function & full range disk control functionalities
Audio a noticeable dropout “hiccup” on channel change
Viewing angles degrade much sooner than the spec 160 - 170 degrees, particularly the vertical
Image: “screen door” image quality appearance characteristic of LCD display at close viewing distances
75 Ohm connection: orientation and lack of recess prohibits a flush mount without an “L” converter
Image resizing lacks sophisticated versions e.g “justify”
Superfluous: the logo light “feature”
Don’t be put off by the “cons”. This is a great TV and after doing weeks of comparisons I am convinced that it is the best of the class. I admit my preference for plasma, but in this size there simply is no such thing.

I just got this unit last week. It’s light, it’s sleek, its picture is fantastic, but it’s sound is not always as loud as you might like. Most channels are fine, but some, even when the volume is set to max, are too soft. I’m looking for an inexpensive sound bar to augment the unit’s small speakers. If you have a smaller room, say 10 x 12, this will be great. But if you have a larger room, 15 x 15 or more, or are in a noisy house, you may be disappointed. I hope Toshiba is listening!!

It was a challenge to get this TV, my first unit was stolen while en route from UPS, Amazon was very good with customer service, and ended up purchasing the second unit from an Amazon Marketplace seller who shipped FedEx. It took a week to ship, but finally received the TV about 2 weeks ago. First, I have never owned a flat screen, I replaced a 13 inch CRT with Mono sound, so my viewing experience has improved tremendously.
The only reason I couldn’t give the TV five stars was that the sound is weak at times, but it seems to be dependent on the TV program or DVD that you are watching. It could be louder, but as long as you aren’t trying to obtain theater style sound for action films, the lack of loudness doesn’t appear to be a huge issue. Picture quality is great, using the DVD player is easy, and the remote is easy as well, and there is a previous channel button now, which was a gripe that some reviewers had about Toshiba’s previous model, the 505. Order with confidence!

Bought two flat panel HDTVs, this one and a Vizio, The Vizio is superb. This set only ranks as average or slightly below. If you have any slight hearing problem, you will not get enough sound level out of this set on a digital channel to be able to hear it clearly. Had to add Radio Shack’s amplified speakers plugged into the headphone jack of the TV in order to correct this problem. The tuner is not anywhere near as sensitive as it should be. The Vizio pulled in 19 stations with the antenna, whereas this set only received 15. In a 22″ set, there are not a lot of choices when you desire a built-in DVD player. This set needs to be improved.

Bought this tv through Amazon. Vanns electronics, in Montana was the actual seller. Great job communicating and fast shipping. Thanks Vanns.

I chose this mostly for the price and I think it’s an okay tv. I’m having trouble getting the color just right. I can make the people any cool or warm shade of pink or green or orange, just not flesh. Oddly, it’s gotten better with time (or maybe I’m just used to it now). Other people have complained about the sound, but it’s fine on mine. It projects forward, so if I’m not in front of it I just have to turn up the volume. Since it’s my bedroom tv, I like that the buttons on the remote are lit up.

Absolutely no problems with TV or DVD. Remote takes getting used to. Buttons could have been placed more conveniently.

I was looking for an easily moveable TV with DVD. I love the built in DVD slot. The TV is light and easy to move. Just what I was looking for.

Very nice TV. The picture is great, the DVD player is perfect, and I have it hooked up to both HD cable and two separate gaming systems (XBox 360 & Playstation 2) and both look great on the television. I’m very happy with it.
